Veolia to operate a central utility
cogeneration (CHP) and water treatment
Industrial Realty Group (IRG) has contracted Veolia Energy
Operating Services, LLC (Veolia) to operate and maintain its
central utility plant and combined heat and power (CHP) facility in
Pearl River, New York.
Veolia will manage utilities across 250 acres of property, much
of which is dedicated to the pharmaceutical and technology
industries. The Pearl River site will ultimately be the home of
many high-tech and mission-critical industrial companies in this
space where the highest levels of reliability are required.
Under this contract, Veolia will manage the water and energy
utilities of IRG’s New York City-area campus, including a
23-megawatt (MW) cogeneration (CHP) plant, 18,000-ton chiller
plant, 400,000-pound-per-hour boiler plant, 3.1 MGD water and
wastewater treatment plant; and electrical, steam and chilled water
distribution systems.
With resiliency in mind, Veolia’s services will allow IRG to
focus more on real estate development while ensuring the tenants’
customers receive reliable and high-quality utilities. The onsite
team has extensive experience managing mission-critical utility
operations leveraging its global expertise and resources to ensure
business continuity.
“Our team will work to optimize operations from a reliability
and cost perspective,” said John Gibson, president and COO of
Veolia’s Municipal & Commercial business. “Maximizing utility
performance will allow IRG to focus on its core mission of
developing a cost-competitive location to attract industrial
manufacturers.”
Veolia group is the global leader in optimized resource
management. With over 163 000 employees worldwide, the Group

that contribute to the sustainable development of communities and

Veolia helps to develop access to resources, preserve available
resources, and to replenish them. In 2016, the Veolia group
supplied 100 million people with drinking water and 61 million
people with wastewater service, produced 54 million megawatt hours
of energy and converted 30 million metric tons of waste into new
materials and energy. Veolia Environnement (listed on Paris
Euronext: VIE) recorded consolidated revenue of €24.39 billion
($25.7 billion) in 2016. www.veolia.com
