Alstom SA (ALO.FR) said Tuesday that it has received an order for hydrogen fuel-cell trains from a German rail operator valued at 500 million euros ($558.1 million).

The French train maker said it will supply 27 fuel-cell trains as part of a consortium with Germany's Infraserv GmbH & Co.

Alstom said its share of the contract, which will create the world's largest fleet of hydrogen-powered trains, is valued at EUR360 million.
