Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA (CO.FR) said Thursday that fourth-quarter sales rose, helped by a strong performance in Latin America.

The French retailer said total sales for the three months ended Dec. 31 were up 5.1% to 9.9 billion euros ($11.27 billion) on an organic basis compared with the same period last year.

Organic retail sales in France edged up 0.2% to EUR4.9 billion, a slowdown mainly due to the yellow-vest protests that have hit retailers since November. In Latin America, total sales growth rose 10% to EUR4.4 billion, Casino said.

Its full-year 2018 organic sales were EUR36.6 billion, up 4.7% in total compared with 2017, it said.
