Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) said Wednesday that it
estimates higher costs for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power
station in England due to challenging conditions and additional
costs.
The French utility company said the project is estimated to cost
between 21.5 billion and 22.5 billion pounds ($26.79 billion-$28.03
billion), which represents an increase of GBP1.9 billion to GBP2.9
billion compared to a previous estimate.
It also said that the previously communicated risk for a delayed
completion of unit one and two at the site had increased, which
would add another GBP700 million to the costs.
EDF continues to expect to start generating power from the site
at the end of 2025, however, it said.
