The French nuclear regulator said Wednesday that it has put Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR)'s Flamanville nuclear plant under increased surveillance.

The decision follows a series of shortcomings, including surveillance and maintenance deficiencies as well as insufficient quality documentation, at EDF's Flamanville nuclear plant, in northwestern France, the regulator said.

The French regulator added that it will monitor more closely the implementation of EDF's plan to improve the situation.
