Hermes International SCA said Friday that second-quarter revenue surged on the back of strong sales momentum that continued from the first quarter.

The French luxury-goods company, best known for its leather bags, said quarterly revenue climbed to 2.15 billion euros ($2.56 billion) from EUR982.5 million for the second quarter of last year.

For the first half, revenue increased to EUR4.24 billion from EUR2.49 billion, while net profit rose to EUR1.17 billion from EUR335 million.

Recurring operating income--which excludes some nonrecurring items--rose to EUR1.72 billion in the first half from EUR535 million.

Hermes said the outlook for 2021 remains tough to assess given continued uncertainty over the duration of the coronavirus pandemic. For the medium term, Hermes confirmed its goal of revenue growth at constant currency.
