International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) on Tuesday said it named former Vanguard Group Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive F. William "Bill" McNabb III to its board.

The Armonk, N.Y., tech giant said the addition of Mr. McNabb, which is effective Oct. 29, expands the board to 13 directors.

Mr. McNabb, 62 years old, retired as CEO of fund giant Vanguard in 2017 and as chairman a year later.
