Kohl's Corp. (KSS) on Tuesday said it will now accept returns for Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) customers at all of its stores as the department-store operator deepens its ties with the online retail giant.

Kohl's and Amazon in 2017 launched a pilot of the returns program, under which Kohl's accepts eligible Amazon items without a box or label and returns them to Amazon at no charge to the customers.

Kohl's, which currently accepts Amazon returns at 100 stores in the Los Angeles, Chicago and Milwaukee markets, said it will roll out the program to all of its more than 1,150 locations in 48 states.

Hosting Amazon returns is bringing a return to Kohl's, retail industry newsletter Retail Dive reported earlier this month, citing data from Earnest Research, which found that sales, transactions, and customer growth at Kohl's stores in Chicago outpaced the same metrics nationwide for 2018 after the stores began taking Amazon returns.

Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl's last month said it would carry Amazon products in more than 200 stores, expanding that program from 30 locations. As part of the expansion, Kohl's said it would offer a greater assortment and do away with the shop-in-shop concept, instead displaying the products in more of a self-service environment.

Shares of Kohl's jumped more than 8% to $73 in early trading Tuesday.
