LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (MC.FR) said Wednesday that its first-quarter revenue grew by double digits thanks to a buoyant start to the year.

The French luxury-goods titan reported first-quarter revenue of 12.54 billion euros ($14.13 billion), up 16% from EUR10.85 billion in the same period a year ago. The result beat analysts' expectations of EUR12.23 billion revenue, according to a consensus estimate provided by FactSet.

LVMH said the result represented 11% organic growth.

LVMH, best known for its flagship Louis Vuitton brand, posted 20% growth in its fashion and leather goods division, making it the group's fastest-growing.
