Former Walmart Inc. supply-chain executive Tracy Rosser is
moving to the supplier side to join transportation management
company Transplace as executive vice president of operations.
Mr. Rosser retired from Walmart in February after more than 22
years at the retail behemoth, most recently as senior vice
president of transportation and supply chain. In that role he
oversaw domestic and global transportation, including last-mile
delivery and Walmart's private trucking fleet, as well as
procurement and supply-chain services.
Dallas-based Transplace is one of the largest U.S. providers of
third-party logistics services, with customers including Amazon.com
Inc. and Walmart. The company manages day-to-day shipping
operations for retailers, manufacturers and other companies, and
provides logistics technology, consulting and freight brokerage
services.
More than 40% of Transplace customers are or have been Walmart
suppliers, the company said.
Mr. Rosser joined Walmart in 1997 as a director of its in-house
truck fleet after several years in the trucking industry. His other
positions included senior vice president of store operations.
Mr. Rosser will direct Transplace's transportation management
business and provide strategic leadership for the company. He will
be based out of its Lowell, Ark., operations center and report to
Transplace Chief Executive Frank McGuigan.
"Tracy's strong leadership abilities and proven experience in
leading multi-billion-dollar, multi-facility operations at the
national level will accelerate and enhance our ability to deliver
innovative, best-in-the-industry logistics solutions to help our
customers optimally manage their supply chains," Mr. McGuigan said
in a statement.
