--A judge in a Milan court rejected an appeal from Vivendi SA (VIV.FR) and Simon Fiduciaria protesting Mediaset's SpA (MS.MI) plans to merge its Italian and Spanish operations to create MediaForEurope, the AFP reports citing a source close to the case.

--A separate hearing on Mediaset's planned merger will take place in Amsterdam on Feb. 10, as previously reported.
