Thales SA and Rheinmetall AG jointly said Monday that they won a subcontract in March from U.S. aerospace company Lockheed Martin Corp. to provide training services for a Franco-German squadron.

The 50/50 consortium between the French and German aerospace companies was tasked by prime contractor Lockheed Martin with delivering personnel and services related to the certification of the future training centre organization for the Franco-German C-130J transport aircraft fleet, they said.

"The training centre qualification is to be completed in 1Q 2024, and the training operation will commence in 2024," they said. The training center will be established in Normandy, France, they specified.

The companies didn't provide financial details of the deal.
