Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (SGRE.MC) said Thursday that it will supply wind turbines for an offshore project developed by Electricite de France SA's (EDF.FR) renewables subsidiary in Scotland.

The wind-turbine maker said it received an order to install 54 offshore turbines for the 448 MW Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind power project, which is located 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) off the east coast of Scotland.

Construction will begin in 2022 and the project is expected to be operational by the following year, Siemens Gamesa said.

"The revised project reduces the number of turbines by around half, while allowing the same generating capacity," according to the company.

When fully operational, the project will be able to generate electricity for around 375,000 homes, Siemens Gamesa said.
