--Spain's government is pressuring Abertis's biggest shareholder Criteria Caixa to block a takeover bid by Italian rival Atlantia, in favor of a competing bid led by Spain's ACS, reports Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter.

--Energy Minister Alvaro Nadal and Public Works Minister Inigo de la Serna are leading the push to block the Atlantia bid, according to Bloomberg.

--Criteria Caixa hasn't made any final decision on which bid it will back and it isn't clear whether the Spanish government's involvement will convince the shareholder, says Bloomberg.
