April 10, 2019 -- ADVFN Crypto NewsWire -- We’ve all been waiting
for something that will truly signal a move toward widespread
adoption of cryptocurrencies. The number one Youtuber is moving to
the blockchain. If you have watched any sort of YouTube video, then
you have likely heard of something related to PewDiePie. Due to the
fact that he has almost 94 million subscribers, it’s almost
impossible for this not to be the case.
With this, comes the fact that his
moves will likely be trusted by many others, including other
popular content creators. Given the news that he has now “signed an
exclusive deal” with a live streaming platform called DLive, this
is likely about to happen, as long as certain conditions are
met.
Most importantly, since he plans to
leave YouTube, it will have to be worth his while. What that means
can be boiled down to two ideas. First, he and anyone else who
follows him will need to feel that they are really freer to publish
what they want to publish than they were with YouTube, which is
known for having an almost impossibly strict copyright
policy.
Second, he will need to make enough
money that he feels the move is worth it. As of now, as CoinDesk
pointed out today, he’s was the ninth highest earner on the YouTube
platform last year. Still, whether he will want the same amount of
money in his first year or whether he will even leave YouTube
completely seems to be up for debate.
Whatever the case, this is a true
example of a chance at widespread adoption, especially since
content creators with DLive will not lose any of their income to
the platform. Since PewDiePie is joining, his presence will serve
as an excellent marketing tool as DLive takes off, especially since
he reportedly plans to donate a large sum of money to help other
creators get off the ground.
