Vivendi SA (VIV.FR)'s subsidiary Canal+ Group is in exclusive talks with beIN Sports--a network of sport channels owned by beIN Media Group (BEIN.YY)--over a distribution and sublicensing deal, the two companies said Monday in a joint statement.

Under the agreement, French film-and-television studio Canal+ Group would be the exclusive distributor of beIN Sports to third-party providers as of June 1, 2020, while also offering its premium sport channels in its package, the companies said.

BeIN Sports would exclusively sublicense its 2020-24 Ligue 1 football rights to Canal+, they said.

The agreement would run for five years and will be renewable, the companies said.
