Germany's Volkswagen AG said Thursday that it is collaborating with Microsoft Corp. to speed up the development of automated driving.

The car maker's software division Car.Software Organisation and Microsoft plan to create a cloud-based automated-driving platform, which it said "will help reduce the development cycles from months to weeks and efficiently manage the huge amount of data."

The companies have been working together on cloud-related projects for the car maker since 2018, Volkswagen said.
