Dow Names Wildi Vice President of Corporate Development in Kuwait

MIDLAND, Mich., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dow Chemical Company
(NYSE: DOW) announced today that Markus Wildi, formerly President
of Dow Europe, has been named to the newly created role of Vice
President of Corporate Development in Kuwait. Wildi's appointment
recognizes the critical importance of Dow's investments and
relationships in Kuwait and reinforces Dow's commitment to the
country. Wildi will report to Dow Chairman and CEO Andrew N.
Liveris and will represent the office of the CEO in Kuwait. "Markus
has demonstrated strong business leadership throughout his career
and has done a great job in creating strong partner relationships
between business and government," said Liveris. "This role is
critically important and Markus is the right person to establish a
local presence and define a path forward for Dow in Kuwait." Wildi
will relocate to Kuwait and assume Dow oversight of the Company's
existing joint ventures in the country. "Kuwait is very important
for Dow and I look forward to being actively engaged with all of
the key stakeholders and exploring ways of working together in the
future," said Wildi. In his previous role as President of Dow
Europe, Wildi was responsible for bolstering Dow's presence and
influence across the European region, in addition to overseeing
activities in Germany, the Company's second largest market
worldwide. Wildi started his career with Dow in 1987 and has held
numerous positions in sales and commercial management around the
world. In May 1990, he was appointed Sales Manager for
STYROFOAM(TM) in Germany, based in Frankfurt. In January 1993, he
became Regional Commercial Manager for Fabricated Products in
France, Spain and Italy, and relocated to Paris. In October 1995,
he assumed the position of Product Marketing Manager for Solution
Polyethylene, Dow Europe, and relocated to Horgen, Switzerland.
Wildi relocated to Singapore in 1998 to assume the position of
Sales Director for ASEAN, Australia/New Zealand, India and
Pakistan. In January 2000, he was promoted to Commercial Director
for the Polyolefins and Elastomers Business Group in the Pacific
Area. Prior to being appointed to his current role in February
2006, Wildi was Commercial Vice President, Basic Plastics, Europe,
Middle East and Africa, a position he had held since February 2004.
