Item 8.01. Other Events.

On July 18, 2022, Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing that the U.S. Department of Energy selected the Company for the Phase II development of a next-generation wave energy converter. A copy of the press release is filed as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and is incorporated herein by reference.
