International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on Thursday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts fell 0.6% to 153.47. The European index dropped 0.9% to 147.50, the Asian index declined 0.3% to 180.51, the Latin American index climbed 0.7% to 193.58 and the emerging markets index fell 0.3% to 301.14.

ADRs of Tenaris SA surged 6.4% after the Luxembourg-based steel-pipe manufacturer said its net profit more than doubled on the year, as higher sales prices offset higher raw-material and energy costs, and that it expects sales and earnings to rise in 2023.

ADRs of Orange jumped 6.1% after the French telecommunications company set out financial targets for 2025 along with plans to raise its dividend, after better-than-expected fourth-quarter results.
