Great Lakes to Raise Elemental Bromine and Certain Bromine Derivatives Pricing INDIANAPOLIS, June 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Great Lakes Chemical Corporation (NYSE:GLK) today announced it will increase worldwide bulk elemental bromine pricing an average of 11%, or $200/MT, effective for all shipments immediately, where contracts allow. Pricing for elemental bromine in all other package sizes and the following bromine derivatives will be affected accordingly: * Hydrobromic Acid * Ethylenedibromide * Methyl bromide (non-agricultural) * Sodium Bromide (non-oil field application, non-water treatment additives) * Calcium Bromide (non-oil field application) * Alkyl bromides The company stated that this increase is in addition to its earlier action, which was communicated to customers at the beginning of the second quarter of 2005. Although progress has been made toward achieving re- investment economics, more improvement is required. While prices have partially recovered from the unsustainable levels of two years ago, bromine and derivatives are still undervalued. Great Lakes Chemical Corporation is the world's leading producer of certain specialty chemicals for such applications as water treatment, household cleaners, flame retardants, polymer stabilizers, fire suppressants, and performance products. The stock of the company is traded on the New York Stock Exchange. For more information please visit the Great Lakes web site at http://www.greatlakes.com/ .
