International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Thursday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged up 0.2% to 124.20. The European index ticked down 0.1% to 121.77. The Asian index gained 0.3% to 136.38. The Latin American index advanced 2.4% to 190.01, while the emerging-markets index moved up 1% to 236.32.

AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The miner gained 0.7% after it reported a 20% rise in third-quarter production, boosted by higher grades across most assets, and backed its full-year guidance.

Steelmaker ArcelorMittal SA edged down 2.1% after the company said that it is preparing to temporarily shut down one of two blast furnaces at its Fos-sur-Mer plant in the south of France.
