Honeywell International Inc. (HON) will be providing an integrated fire safety, public address and voice alarm system, together with advanced lighting controls and building management systems for mechanical and electrical operations, to the Heathrow’s new Terminal 2. The $21.7 million contract for the new integrated system will enhance the new terminals energy efficiency, customer safety and comfort.

The safety system will help in evacuating in a planned manner in case of emergency. The passengers will be thoroughly informed about any difficult situation through intelligible voice alarm messages, making the process of evacuation swift and controlled. The new system focuses on saving energy by using natural light for lightening purpose.

Honeywell has been awarded this contract by HETCo, the main contractor in this project and a joint venture between Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O'Rourke. Honeywell was also involved in the building of the largest integrated fire detection, voice alarm and public address system ever installed in the world currently. The renowned system has been successfully installed and being used at Heathrow 's Terminal 5.

Terminal 2 will be one of the most modern airport terminals in the world and the abode for the Star Alliance group of airlines. The improved services will be enjoyed by nearly about 20 million passengers annually.
