BorgWarner Receives Third Consecutive Honda Quality Performance Award CHICAGO, April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems in Seneca, South Carolina, has been honored by Honda for the third consecutive year for outstanding quality performance over the past 12 months. The facility supplies BorgWarner InterActive Torque Management (ITM)(TM) systems to the Honda of Canada manufacturing facility in Alliston, Ontario, as well as the new Honda of Alabama manufacturing facility in Lincoln, Alabama. BorgWarner was recognized for its ranking at the top of Honda's quality index and for having superior delivery performance. At its annual Supplier Conference in March, Honda honored 66 suppliers with awards for exceptional performance in the areas of quality, delivery, productivity improvement and quality improvement category. BorgWarner was honored in two categories -- quality and delivery -- and was one of only nine North American supplier companies to receive the distinction of a "double" award. "At BorgWarner we strive relentlessly to exceed our customers' expectations, and this award from Honda in two categories is doubly gratifying," said Tim Manganello, BorgWarner Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We are proud of this prestigious recognition in the vital areas of quality and delivery. Congratulations, for the third year in a row, to our employees in Seneca and to the entire TorqTransfer Systems team." BorgWarner's ITM(TM) system, which offers better handling and fuel economy, improved stability, and more flexibility than passive, mechanical four-wheel drive systems, debuted in late 2000 on the award-winning Acura MDX. The system's patented technology electronically senses when a vehicle's front wheels slip and instantaneously transfers power to the rear wheels. The ITM(TM) technology individually controls the rear wheels to offer side-to-side or single wheel torque management. BorgWarner engineers based the new system on their electronic innovations in rear-wheel drive systems for larger sport- utility vehicles first introduced in the mid-1990s. BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems is a leading independent global designer and producer of transfer cases and systems for four-wheel and all-wheel drive vehicles for the sport-utility and light truck markets. Systems enhance driver security, reliability and ease of use. BorgWarner Inc. (NYSE:BWA) is a product leader in highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide.
