IMC Global and Cargill Receive Canadian Antitrust Clearance for Pending Transaction LAKE FOREST, Ill., and MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMC Global Inc. (NYSE:IGL) and Cargill, Incorporated today announced that they have been informed by the Canadian Competition Bureau that it has determined to take no action with respect to the pending combination of IMC and Cargill Crop Nutrition, which will be known as The Mosaic Company, and that the transaction may proceed as proposed. Cargill and IMC announced on Tuesday, August 31, that the U.S. Department of Justice had similarly concluded its antitrust investigation of the transaction. Although the combination is subject to post closing review by the Brazilian government, no other competition approvals are required prior to closing. IMC Global and Cargill are also working cooperatively with the Securities and Exchange Commission to obtain effectiveness of a definitive proxy statement/prospectus to be mailed to common shareholders of record with respect to the Mosaic transaction.
