Citigroup Inc. (C) has paid a $130,000 fine to the state of
Texas for failing to report complaints and arbitration claims
against a sales agent who had a history of complaints.
The banking giant was reprimanded and fined for failing to
comply with a 2007 agreement that required it to promptly notify
the state securities board of any complaints or regulatory actions
involving one of its Texas-registered agents.
The board said Citigroup failed to timely report three
arbitration claims, one written complaint and one verbal complaint
against the agent from January 2007 through February 2008.
In November, the state securities commissioner suspended Robert
Wesley Stout of Arlington, Texas, for 30 days for failing to notify
the commissioner about a disciplinary sanction and fine levied
against him.
