MILPITAS, Calif., and
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Lumentum
Holdings Inc. ("Lumentum") will showcase its latest photonics-based
products supporting the dynamic 3D sensing, industrial diode laser,
and commercial laser markets at SPIE Photonics West in
San Francisco, Calif., from
January 30–February 1, 2018 at Moscone Center in the South Hall in
booth #1123.
3D Sensing
Lumentum has a wide range of diode laser products for 3D
sensing applications and has developed significant
partnerships with companies supporting the growing 3D sensing
market. Several of these partners will have information and
displays of products incorporating Lumentum's diode lasers in the
Lumentum booth.
Lumentum partner Himax, with their SLiM™ module for mobile
device platforms, incorporates a Lumentum diode laser, wafer-level
optics (WLO), laser drivers, diffractive optical elements (DOE) and
additional semiconductor components for Face ID facial
authentication.
Another 3D sensing partner, Orbbec, uses Lumentum diode lasers
in its Astra mini camera. This highly compact platform is ideal for
a wide range of settings, including gesture control, robotics, 3D
scanning, and point cloud development for mobile devices ranging
from schools to industrial environments, and even retail
locations.
Lumentum diode lasers support Occipital's Structure
Sensor 3D sensor for mobile devices and enable applications
like 3D scanning, large-scale 3D mapping of rooms and buildings,
and inside-out positional tracking for AR/VR headsets. Occipital
also leverages Lumentum diode lasers for
its Bridge headset for mixed-reality, where users can see
virtual content mixed seamlessly with their real-world
environment.
Lumentum Pump Lasers
Lumentum fiber coupled pump lasers are used by customers
globally in demanding industrial applications including fiber laser
pumping and materials processing.
The Lumentum 200 W fiber-coupled diode pump laser -- the ST2™ --
is now in high-volume production and deployed at customers
globally. Introduced at SPIE Photonics West 2017, the ST2 recently
completed a 10,000-hour reliability test ensuring endurance and
power stability to withstand prolonged use in harsh manufacturing
settings. In addition to the ST2, Lumentum has a full portfolio of
advanced fiber-coupled devices leveraging the low-cost L4
platform.
Ultrafast Industrial Lasers
Global customers rely on Lumentum ultrafast industrial lasers
for their most demanding and complex micromachining jobs.
Lumentum's PicoBlade™ 2 is now in volume production. Its
outstanding UV-reliability, a field-proven feature of Lumentum's
high-power Q-Series™ diode-pumped UV lasers, is increasingly a
critical requirement for customers and their demanding
applications. Also, customers that leverage PicoBlade's other
features: FlexBurst™, MegaBurst™, Sync™, and AccuTrig™ can easily
control pulse format, pulse timing, and energy for faster
throughput.
CORELIGHT™– Next Generation Kilowatt-Class Fiber Laser
Engines
The next generation CORELIGHT YLE fiber laser
engines—highlighted at SPIE Photonics West 2017—are now available
in production volumes. Offered in single-module 2 kW and 3 kW
systems and multi-module 4 kW, 6 kW and 9 kW systems, these
cost-effective and highly-configurable fiber laser systems are
deployed globally supporting customers in a wide variety of
challenging cutting, welding, and material deposition
applications. Customers now have additional configuration
options to differentiate their latest machine tool offerings.
CORELIGHT's exceptional beam characteristics enable high-quality
and high-speed cutting performance of mild steel, stainless steel,
aluminum, copper, brass, and many other materials. CORELIGHT
products meet high-reliability standards critical for high-volume
industrial environments.
