Renault SA (RNO.FR) said Wednesday that the police is carrying out a search at its headquarter in Boulogne Billancourt, in the western suburbs of Paris.

The French car maker is cooperating with the police, a spokeswoman from the company said. Renault declined to comment further on the situation.

Renault has been embroiled in legal troubles after its former Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn was charged for crimes in Japan related to financial misconduct.

French prosecutors have also opened an investigation into allegations that Mr. Ghosn misused the company's funds to pay for a party at the Palace of Versailles to celebrate his marriage.
