American Defense Systems, Inc. (ADSI) (NYSE
Amex: EAG), a provider of advanced transparent and opaque armor,
reported that its physical security subsidiary, American Physical
Security Group, LLC ("APSG"), has recently completed successful
testing of its newly introduced CRB 360, the most capable rising
crash beam barrier in APSG's federally-certified American Anti-Ram™
(AAR™) product line.
During extensive live testing, the CRB 360 achieved a rating of
M50-P1 under the ASTM F2656-07 Standard Test Method for Vehicle
Crash Testing of Perimeter Barriers, the highest rating for
stopping a 15,000 pound vehicle traveling at 50 mph in under 3.3
feet and the highest standard recognized by the United States
Department of State (DoS) for anti-ram barriers.
"Our APSG products continue to meet the highest standards for
performance and safety," said ADSI's chief executive officer,
Anthony J. Piscitelli. "We expect these test results will encourage
greater adoption of our architectural hardening products, and
greater use of our related contractor services, which will further
our corporate mission represented by our motto, 'ADSI Saves
Lives.'"
This new CRB 360 expands the AAR crash beam barrier product line
to now three versions that can contain all different types and
sizes of attacking vehicles. APSG's CRB 110 was engineered to stop
a 10,000 pound vehicle traveling at speeds up to 20 mph, while the
CRB 240 was tested to the DoS K4 energy level for containing a
15,000 pound vehicle traveling at up to 30 mph.
According to Paul Roland, APSG's director of engineering: "In
addition to providing the greatest stopping power, our new CRB 360
also offers our most elegant design because of newer technology,
while incorporating the features that have made our other CRB units
so popular. The excavation and placement of the arm is simple in
appearance, with no above-grade concrete or outriggers required.
The arm is also constructed of aluminum alloy to reduce weight and
eliminate the rust and maintenance associated with lesser designs.
The product is currently available in hydraulic, semi manual or
fully manual design, and is soon to be released as a fully electric
version. With the CRB 360, we believe APSG continues to be an
industry leader with its simple but highly effective designs."
ADSI also reported APSG has begun the first phase of a
multi-gate project to install its American Anti-Ram Crash Beam
Barriers at a major international airport in order to enhance
perimeter security. APSG was also recently engaged to install
various APSG-designed wedge barriers at a major federal research
facility, and was awarded the second of a multistage upgrade of
perimeter security for a major government research hospital located
in the Washington, DC metro area after successfully completing the
first phase earlier this year.
Piscitelli noted: "In this very competitive global arena of
physical security and architectural hardening, these customers have
many options. Their selection of APSG's AAR products represents a
tremendous affirmation of the quality, capability and value we
deliver."
About American Anti-Ram™ Technology The
American Anti-Ram (AAR) Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology
supports a product line of active and passive perimeter vehicle
barricades that aid in delaying the entry of unauthorized intruders
to installations. The AAR products include bollards, crash beams,
slide gates and other vehicle barriers, including SoftStop™.
In August of 2009, the DHS office of the Under Secretary for
Science and Technology classified APSG's AAR technology an
"Approved Product for Homeland Security" after careful review of
third party crash tests which demonstrated AAR satisfies the
criteria set forth in the federal Support Anti-terrorism by
Fostering Effective Technologies Act of 2002, otherwise known as
the SAFETY Act, as well as its supporting regulations. By providing
unique liability protections and limitations in the event of an act
of terrorism, the goal of the SAFETY Act is to encourage the
development and deployment of new and innovative anti-terrorism
products and services that can potentially save lives and property.
APSG joins the ranks of other prestigious DHS designees that
include ADT Security Systems, Northrop Grumman Space & Mission
Systems Corporation, and the Raytheon Company.
These AAR products complement APSG's Hi-Threat™ line of
specially crafted doors, windows, louvers, and security stations
designed to resist physical forced entry and bullets. The Hi-Threat
line received the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) SAFETY Act
designation in May 2009. This DHS designation also applies to
APSG's supervision of general contractor installation and services
of these types of devices.
