Chairman's Statement


At the Annual General Meeting of Surgical Innovations Group plc held today, the
Chairman, Mr Doug Liversidge, made the following statement:


"Since my statement in the Report and Accounts distributed a month ago, I am
pleased to report continuing progress on all fronts and in particular have
continued to develop our strategic partnerships with major companies worldwide.


Uniglide, our unique single-use port system, is our main focus in MIS equipment
this year. We are now pre-selling the product, trials have started and we
anticipate the full launch at the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons
Conference in Glasgow in June.


Our Logic range of instruments continues to show improvement in sales. We have
recently confirmed our strategic partnership with Aesculap for the distribution
of disposable scissors world-wide on an OEM basis, without affecting the selling
of the product through our developing international group of distributors.


We are conducting an in-depth review of the Autologous blood market with regard
to short term improvements in our product range and longer term developments. I
am pleased to report that we are taking better control of manufacturing for the
post-operative products by relocating our manufacturing facility from Ireland to
our local control in the UK this should enable us to make cost savings.


We are comfortable with our leasing and banking facilities which have recently
been re-negotiated and will enable us to continue with our programme of
essential capital expenditure and the investment in our distribution network.


We are confident that our improvement in the first quarter will be more than
maintained during the remainder of the current year.

We intend to keep shareholders fully updated with developments through our new
website, www.sigroupplc.com, which is well worth a visit."
