On Dec. 4, the St. Louis Minority Business Council (SLMBC) recognized Ameren as a recipient of the 2009 Corporation of the Year Award, presented annually to the corporate member that best demonstrates a commitment to minority business purchasing. Ameren will now compete against winners selected by other regional councils for the national title from the National Minority Supplier Development Council. The winner of the national award will be announced in October 2010. In addition to SLMBC's award, Ameren was also named a top 100 military-friendly employer by G.I. Jobs Magazine. The announcement was featured in the magazine's December 2009 issue. G.I. Jobs provides tips, training and other career opportunities for veterans and military personnel transitioning back into civilian life.
