    Annual General Meeting

    The Bank's Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 25 February 2009 following the publication of its Annual Report & Accounts
for the year ended 30 September 2008 on Tuesday 27 January 2009. The meeting will commence at 10:00am and will take place in the Mansion
House, Dawson Street, Dublin 2.

    The Board considers it appropriate that the Annual Report & Accounts, normally issued by calendar year end, includes details in relation
to the recapitalisation announced by the Minister for Finance on 21 December 2008 which will be considered at an Extraordinary General
Meeting of the Company on Friday 16 January 2009.

    In announcing the capital investment in Anglo Irish Bank the Minister noted the Bank's systemic importance to the Irish banking sector
and wider economy. The Board welcomes the initial investment of EUR1.5 billion of core capital. The Board believes that this investment
together with the Government's stated commitment to reinforce the position of the Bank through making further capital available if required
so that it remains a sound and viable institution, represent very positive developments for Anglo Irish Bank.

    Anglo Irish Bank is Ireland's third largest bank with a balance sheet size in excess of EUR100 billion. In its preliminary results
issued on 3 December 2008 for the year ended 30 September 2008, the Bank reported a profit before taxation of EUR784 million and earnings
per share of 88.4 cent.

    Should the Government's planned capital investment be included in the Group's Regulatory Capital position at 30 September 2008, the Core
and Total Tier 1 Regulatory Capital ratios would be 7.7% and 10.1% respectively.
