Statement re Charge in the ownership

FINNISH GOVERNMENT'S HOLDING IN SAMPO

Sampo plc (business code 0142213-3) has today received a disclosure
under chapter 2, section 9 of the Securities Markets Act, according
to which the Finnish government's holding in Sampo A-shares and
connected voting rights has decreased below 15 per cent.

According to the information received from the Finnish government,
the government has agreed to a lock-up of the remaining Sampo shares
till next 90 days.
Sampo's share capital comprises 565,781,265 shares, of which
564,581,265 are A shares and 1,200,000 are B shares. Each A share
entitles its holder to one (1) vote and each B share to five (5)
votes. Thus, the total number of votes is 570,581,265.
