DEBENHAMS SIGNS UP ANCHOR STORE IN EAST KILBRIDE, SCOTLAND'S
LARGEST COVERED SHOPPING CENTRE

Debenhams plc, Britain's favourite department store, today
announces that it has signed up as anchor tenant for Centre
West development in East Kilbride.  The #90m joint venture
scheme between British Land Company PLC and Stannifer
Developments is scheduled to open, subject to the necessary
planning consent, in autumn 2002.  Debenhams has agreed a
standard 25-year lease for the new store, which will have a
trading space of approximately
80,000 sq ft spread over three levels.  The new store will
create over 300 new jobs.
