                      Debenhams New International Store


Debenhams plc announces a new International franchise store in Copenhagen. It
will be operated by our existing franchise partner, Baugur A.B. It will trade
on approximately 70,000 sq ft and is scheduled to open in 2004.

Francis McAuley, International Director, is responsible for the International
Division and reports directly to Matthew Roberts, Finance Director.
