            NOTIFICATION OF INTERESTS OF DIRECTORS

The Company has been notified today that Debenhams QUEST Trustee Ltd, a
discretionary trust established to facilitate the operation of the Company's
Inland Revenue approved Savings Related Share Option Scheme, has today
transferred 1,066 shares in order to satisfy options granted under that scheme
(804 shares at 145p each and 262 shares at 294p each).

By virtue of being members of the class of potential beneficiaries under the
Trust (together with all other UK employees of the Debenhams group of
companies), each of the Executive Directors is now deemed to be interested in
12,863 shares.
