                    EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT INTERNATIONAL PLC 
 
            CANCELLATION OF TREASURY SHARES AND TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS 
 
 
Education Development International plc ('EDI' or 'the Company'), the leading 
provider of educational qualifications and assessment services, has today 
purchased 100,000 shares in the Company at a price of 137p per share. 
 
These shares and the 750,000 shares currently held in Treasury - a total of 
850,000 shares - will be cancelled.  As a result of the cancellation, no shares 
will be held in Treasury and the number of shares in issue is 56,759,647. 
 
The total number of voting rights in the Company is therefore 56,759,647. 
 
The figure of 56,759,647 should be used by shareholders as the denominator for 
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify 
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the 
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
