Global Equity Shares

The Company announces that, on 17 October 2008, it repurchased 20,000 Global
Equity Shares of 1p each at 72.72p per share, to be held as Treasury shares.

The total number of Global Equity Shares held in Treasury following this
repurchase is 2,994,500.

The total number of Global Equity Shares of 1p each remaining in issue
(excluding 2,994,500 Global Equity Shares of 1p each held in Treasury) is

Managed Liquidity Shares

The Company announces that, on 17 October 2008, it repurchased 20,000 Managed
Liquidity Shares of 1p each at 98.197p per share, to be held as Treasury
shares.

The total number of Managed Liquidity Shares held in Treasury following this
repurchase is 1,899,500.

The total number of Managed Liquidity Shares of 1p each remaining in issue
