Appointment of Director



The board of directors of Hartford (the "Board") is pleased to announce the
appointment of Colin Lewin as Group Finance Director with immediate effect. Mr.
Lewin brings the following experience to the Board:


Most recently, Mr. Lewin was Finance Director of Jamies Bars PLC and prior to
that was divisional Finance Director within Halma Group PLC. Mr. Lewin is a
chartered accountant and since 1990, has been a proprietor of his own
accountancy practice undertaking a range of audit, tax and accounting work.

The following information falls to be disclosed in relation to Mr. Lewin, aged
52, in accordance with paragraph F of Schedule 2 of the AIM Rules.

Mr. Lewin has no unspent convictions in relation to indictable offences, has not
been declared bankrupt, and has not been the subject of an individual voluntary
arrangement. He has not been the subject of any receiverships, compulsory
liquidations, creditors' voluntary liquidations, administrations, company
voluntary arrangements or any composition or arrangement with its creditors
generally or any class of its creditors of any company where he was a director
at the time or within the 12 months preceding such events. Mr. Lewin has not
been a partner of any partnership at the time or within 12 months preceding its
compulsory liquidation, administration or partnership voluntary arrangement. He
has never had a receiver appointed over any of his assets or of any of the
assets of a partnership of which he was a partner within 12 months after he
ceased to be a partner of that partnership. There have been no public criticisms
of Mr. Lewin by any statutory or regulatory authority (including recognised
professional bodies) and he has never been disqualified by a court from acting
as a director of a company or for acting in the management or conduct of the
affairs of any company.
