London: 1 June, 2007:  Following the successful completion of the recommended
offer by Xiamen Zijin Tongguan Investment Development Co., Ltd ("Zijin
Consortium") for Monterrico, the Company is pleased to announce the following
appointments to the Board: Mr Huang Xiaodong as Executive Director and Chief
Executive Officer, Mr Hu Guobin as Technical Director, Mr Huang Wenzhou as
Non-Executive Director and Mr Harry Cooper as Non-Executive Director. These
appointments take effect immediately.

The Company also announces that Ms Eileen Carr and Dr Jeff O'Leary will be
stepping down from the Board with effect from today. On the departure of Ms
Eileen Carr, Ms Shan Shan Li (Susan Li) moves from Non-Executive Director to
Finance Director and Company Secretary.  Richard Ralph and Ray Angus remain on
the Board as Non-Executive Chairman and Non-Executive Director respectively.



Richard Ralph, Non-Executive Chairman said:

"I would like to welcome all the new Directors to the Board of Monterrico; we
look forward to working with them and the Zijin Consortium on developing the Rio
Blanco Project. I am delighted that Ray Angus will remain on the Board as a Non
Executive Director, for it was he who recognised the potential of the Rio Blanco
deposit and has taken it such a long way forward.  On behalf of the Board, I
would like to thank Eileen and Jeff for their invaluable work. Eileen has worked
for the Company since its admission to AIM in 2002 and Jeff joined Monterrico in
2006. Both have made an enormous contribution to the Company and the development
of the Rio Blanco Project."


Mr Huang Xiaodong - (aged 52) - Chief Executive Officer

Mr Huang Xiaodong has over 30 years experience in business management of
international operations in the metals industry. He is a computer science
graduate from China's Hefei University of Technology and has a Masters in
Business Administration from Xiamen University.  In the early part of his career
he worked in China for the Fujian Commission of Science & Technology.  In 1992
he moved to Hong Kong where he was Assistant President of Fujian Enterprises
Holdings Co. Ltd. until 2002 when he became Vice President of Chinalco Ruimin
Aluminum Fabricated Ltd. Mr. Huang joined Zijin Mining Group Co. Ltd. in
February 2005 as the Chief Economist and in August 2006 was appointed Executive
Director and Senior Vice President of the Zijin Mining Group. Mr. Huang is also
a director of Zijin Consortium.



Hu Guobin - (aged 40) - Technical Director

Mr Hu is a Mining Engineer with 19 years experience in mine development and
management. Mr Hu has a degree in Mining from China's Central South University.
He worked first in China at the Shizishan copper mine for Tongling Nonferrous
Metals (Group) Inc.; and then in Zambia where he was employed as head of
planning for three years at the Chambishi copper mine for China's Nonferrous
Metal Industry - Foreign Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd. In 2001, he
returned to China to work for Anhui Tongdu Copper Stock Co.,Ltd. where he was
Manager of the Technical Planning Division at Dongguashan's head office and
Deputy Director (Infrastructure) for the Dongguashan Mine. In 2006, he took the
position of General Manager of Zijin Consortium.



Mr Huang Wenzhou - (aged 42) - Non-Executive Director

Mr. Huang Wenzhou is a qualified accountant and has a Masters degree in Finance
from Xiamen University. Mr. Huang started his career in 1985 and worked for ten
years in the Financial Division of Xiamen C&D Co. Ltd. where he rose to the
position of Financial Manager in 1991. Xiamen C&D is a large, Chinese
state-owned conglomerate listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. It is engaged
principally in international trade, logistics, real estate, conventions and
exhibitions, property leasing and manufacturing. It is one of the largest
companies in Fujian Province. In 1998 Mr Huang Wenzhou was appointed Deputy
Manager of the Xiamen C&D Group and has been General Manager of the Xiamen C&D
since 2002.

Mr. Huang has extensive expertise in the accounting and financing fields and is
an Executive Director of the following companies: Xiamen C&D Corp. Ltd; Xiamen C
&D Inc; Xiamen C&D Tourism & Hotels Corp. Ltd; Xiamen Airlines Corp. Ltd; Xiamen
International Trust Investment Corp. Ltd; XIiamen Xingsha Pharmaceutical Group
Co., Ltd.; Xiamen Modern Terminals Corp. Ltd; Xiamen Zijin Tongguan Investment
Development Corp., Ltd Yongfeng Paper Pulp Production Corp., Ltd; Xiamen Baige
Shiye Co. Ltd.; Xiamen C&D Paper Co. Ltd.; Xiamen Jianyu Shiye Co. Ltd.; Xiamen
C&D Metal Co. Ltd.; Xiamen C&D Communication Co. Ltd.;  Xiamen C&D Automobile
Co. Ltd.; Xiamen C&D Light Industry Co. Ltd.;  Xiamen C&D Art Ceramics Co. Ltd.;

Mr Peter Harry Cooper (aged 53), Non-Executive Director

Mr Cooper is an engineering graduate with a MBA from Manchester Business School
and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. In the
early part of his career he worked for Air Products Europe and Ladbroke Group
plc. In 1996 he joined Whatman plc (a London Stock Exchange quoted laboratory
and medical filter manufacturing group) where he was Group Finance Director.
Since 2002, Harry Cooper has held a number of appointments in privately owned
logistics and healthcare companies and is currently part time Financial Officer
for Sovereign Health Ltd, a mental health business. He is also a Non-Executive
Director of Amicus Horizon Group, a housing association.

Harry was previously a director of: Cascade Care Group Ltd; Amicus Group Ltd;
PsychMed Group PLC; Send Group PLC; Whatman PLC; Whatman Holdings UK Ltd,
Whatman International Ltd, Whatman BioScience Ltd; Whatman Finance Ltd,  Epomops
BV, Polyfiltronics Inc., Whatman Holding BV and Whatman Reeve Angel Inc.


There are no further disclosures to be made in relation to the appointments of
Mr Huang Xiaodong, Mr Hu Guobin, Mr Huang Wenzhou and Mr Cooper under Rule 17
and Schedule 2 paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules for Companies.
