                        The MTL Instruments Group plc
                        Preliminary Results Amendment

The following replaces Note 2 of the Preliminary Results released on 27 March
2006 under RNS number 4028A.

The directors recommend the payment of a final dividend of 4.3p net per share
payable on 12 May 2006 to shareholders registered on 18 April 2006. When added
to the interim dividend of 2.7p already paid, this makes a total dividend for
the year of 7.0p per share (2004: 6.25p per share).
