Optare is pleased to confirm that it has won the UK automotive industry's prestigious annual award for innovation for its fast charging Versa EV bus which entered service in June this year.

Optare's Versa EV beat tough competition from many of the leading names in automotive design and technology to win the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders ("SMMT") Award for Automotive Innovation 2012.

Optare Chief Executive, Jim Sumner, said: "On behalf of all our employees at Optare it gives me immense pride to collect this very prestigious award, which is the culmination of three years hard work by the team.
