                      Strategic Retail plc ("the Company")



The Company is pleased to announce that, conditional upon, inter alia,
admission, it has raised #1,062,500 by a placing ("the Placing") of 2,656,250
ordinary shares of 0.5p ("the Placing Shares") at 40p per share.



The Placing increases the Company's issued share capital to 15,740,722.  The
Placing Shares will be admitted to trading on AIM on Thursday 30 September 2004.
