                         Record signing of Claude Davis


Sheffield United PLC, the football, property and leisure services business,
announces today that its football club, which was recently promoted to the
Barclays Premiership, has completed the purchase of Claude Davis, the Jamaican
international centre half, from Preston North End FC.


Sheffield United has signed the player on an four year contract for a fee of
#2.5 million, plus further contingent payments of up to #500,000; a record fee
for the Club.
