           RESULTS OF RECENT DRILLING - LAS PASCUALAS PROJECT, CHILE


London : 16th August 2006.  In June 2006 the directors of Tarquin (AIM : TQN),
the copper exploration company operating in Chile, announced an inferred
resource, JORC code compliant, of 13.87million tonnes of 1.01% Cu at the
northern part of the Las Pascualas project area in Chile.  This was based on a
200m x 200m grid of Reverse Circulation drill holes and additional underground
adit sampling.  The resource represents an enrichment zone of chalcocite on top
of which lies a zone of lower grade copper oxides which was not included in the
resource estimate.


A programme of infill drilling of 52 drill holes with a 100m x 100m spacing is
almost complete and a list of results received to date is attached.  It is
anticipated that this infill programme will lead to a significant increase in
the size of the resource and bring it to a JORC code compliance "indicated
resource" standard.


NB  The gaps in the assays represent material still at the lab or holes to be
drilled.  Drilling has not been conducted in sequence i.e. the sites are given a
number but drilling takes place not in order of number but in a sequence based
on the geological interpretation and its verification.


The independent international group SRK Consulting has been retained to complete
the updated resource estimate which will be ready for release in mid-October
2006.


Upon completion of the infill drilling at Pascualas North later in August,
Reverse Circulation drilling will commence on the nearby Pascualas East and
Pascualas South exploration prospects.



The information set out above is based on data compiled by Roger Shakesby, who
is a Director of the Company and Consulting Economic Geologist.  Mr Shakesby is
a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the
Geological Society of Australia.  He has a B.Sc from the University of Durham in
Geology and Geography and has 45 years experience in the mining industry.  His
knowledge gained in PNG, the Philippines, the USA and Chile is relevant to the
style of mineralisation and deposit formation in Chile.
