In 2008, CyberSource opened a development center in Belfast Northern Ireland in partnership with
economic development agency Invest Northern Ireland. The center has
grown rapidly to become one of the company's development hubs along
with those in Utah, Texas, Washington, and the company's headquarters in
Mountain View, Calif.
"It's an honor to be recognized by the ITLG," said McKiernan,
"but the real beneficiary of our connection with Ireland has been our company. We have
found access to great engineering talent and in the short time
we've been operational in Belfast,
we have seen significant progress against some demanding research
and development goals."
This is the third time the award has been given; previous
honorees were Dr. Craig Barrett,
former Chairman of Intel Corporation, and Micheal Martin, Ireland's Minister for Trade. Dr. Barrett, who
recently became Chairman of the ITLG, will give this year's keynote
speech. Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger and San Jose
Mayor Chuck Reed are scheduled to be
in attendance.
