First National Bank of Northern California was the recent recipient
of two honors: the Large Business Award presented by the San Mateo
Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mayors Award bestowed by the
South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. When there is a need,
First National Bank of Northern California is there, said
Executive Director Linda Asbury, San Mateo Area Chamber of
Commerce, at the San Mateo Chamber and the City of San Mateo
Combined Annual Business Awards & Chamber of Commerce
Membership Meeting held at the Peninsula Golf & Country Club in
San Mateo. The bank does not just participate financially, it
participates physically and in-kind as well. Former SSF Mayor Joe
Fernekes selected First National Bank of Northern California for
the Mayors Award in recognition of the banks outstanding support
of the City, its residents, and the community. The presentation was
made at the 94th Annual Installation & Outstanding Business
Awards Dinner held at the SSF Conference Center. Our bank and its
staff are exceptionally proud of being honored with these two
awards, said CEO Tom McGraw, First National Bank of Northern
California. We have always been active in our communities as we
believe that healthy vibrant communities raise the standards of
living for everyone. Unfortunately, the many and varied human needs
often outnumber the resources available. First National Bank has
not only made financial contributions to multiple charitable
organizations, but has a long history of employee involvement.
First National Bank has been providing the finest business and
personal banking services to its customers since 1963 when it was
first known as First National Bank of Daly City. The bank was
started by a small group of local businessmen who saw the growing
need for an independent, community-oriented and community-based
bank serving the needs of the people in San Mateo County. The bank
became known as the Family Bank and that image and approach to
banking continues to today. In 1995, the bank changed its name to
First National Bank of Northern California to reflect a more
accurate representation of its service area. Over the years, First
National Bank has grown to 13 branches and now covers a geographic
area from San Francisco, south to Redwood City, and west to the
coast where it has four coastside branches. Deposits have grown
dramatically as has its reputation as a quality, flexible and
caring business lender and community supporter. Cautionary
