12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mercury Interactive Corporation
(NASDAQ:MERQE), the global leader in business technology
optimization (BTO) software, today announced that it has partnered
with Singapore Management University (SMU) to help develop and
train Asia Pacific's next generation of IT professionals. The
initiative includes Mercury's provision of over US$1Million worth
of Mercury Performance Center(TM) software. Additionally, Singapore
Management University's School of Information Systems has developed
a BTO training course for SMU graduating students to become better
educated on the latest technology and business solutions. With this
initiative, SMU's School of Information Systems will teach students
about application performance using a center of excellence
approach. Students will learn how demand, project and resource
management as well as risk mitigation are important when deploying
mission-critical applications in today's business environment.
Ultimately, the course is designed to equip graduating students
with knowledge and experience necessary to drive business outcomes
from IT. SMU deployed the recently announced Mercury Performance
Center 8.1(TM), part of Mercury BTO Enterprise(TM), which comprises
a new and enhanced set of Mercury application modules, a real-time
dashboard and an enterprise foundation. The software modules in
Mercury Performance Center include Mercury LoadRunner(TM), Mercury
Diagnostics(TM), Mercury Tuning(TM), Mercury Capacity Planning(TM),
and Mercury Global Management(TM). "Mercury Performance Center 8.1
is instrumental in helping our senior Business IT students prepare
for designing and testing solutions for the real world," said
Professor Steven Miller, dean, School of Information Systems,
Singapore Management University. "SMU is delighted that our
students are the first in Asia Pacific to use this advanced
software as part of our Architectural Analysis course." "The next
generation of Asia Pacific IT professionals must be able to realize
the connection between business outcomes and IT application
performance in order to be a success, " said Mike New, country
manager, South Asia region, Mercury. "Training with Mercury
products will help these students drive BTO initiatives and best
practices when they graduate." For the past 15 years, Mercury has
