Among the companies with shares expected to trade actively in
Thursday's session are Accenture PLC (ACN), Signet Jewelers Ltd.
(SIG) and Portola Pharmaceuticals Inc. (PTLA).
Accenture PLC raised its guidance for the year after the
consulting company easily topped expectations in its latest
quarter. Shares rose 1.15% to $108.90 in premarket trading.
Signet Jewelers Ltd. said its profit rose 19% in its latest
quarter, with earnings beating expectations, and the company issued
upbeat guidance for the year. Shares rose 2.19% to $120.60
premarket.
Portola Pharmaceuticals Inc. said its blood-clot treatment, an
oral drug, showed no statistical difference in treating the
condition than the current standard of care, an injectable blood
thinner, according to the results of a phase-3 trial. Shares fell
27.95% to $20.62 premarket.
Finish Line Inc. (FINL) reported its profit sank 90% in the
final quarter of the year as it booked a hefty write-off of its
technology assets and closed stores, and issued guidance for the
year sharply below expectations. Shares fell 3.91% to $18.20
premarket.
Ides Capital Management LP, a new activist hedge fund, is
launching it first fight for board seats at Boingo Wireless Inc.
(WIFI), the provider of Wi-Fi service at airports and military
bases, according to people familiar with the matter.
American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) said Thursday that it would
raise its flight attendants' pay by about 6%, a move that comes on
the heels of a decision to allow employee profit-sharing.
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY) Chief Executive Giovanni Caforio
received compensation valued at $15.6 million in 2015, while his
predecessor's pay was valued at $8.2 million, according to a
regulatory filing Wednesday. Lamberto Andreotti, one of the leaders
who turned the pharmaceutical company into an immunotherapy
powerhouse, retired as CEO on Aug. 3. but remains executive
chairman.
EBay Inc. (EBAY) Chief Executive Devin N. Wenig received a total
compensation package of $14.5 million for 2015, a 38% boost from
the year earlier that reflected his promotion to the helm in July
after the spinoff of the former PayPal payments unit.
H.B. Fuller Co. (FUL) on Wednesday posted better-than-expected
profit for the first quarter, in part due to stronger performance
of its newly formed engineering-adhesives division.
KB Home's (KBH) first-quarter profit surged 68% and said a
healthy backlog contributed to a favorable outlook for the
year.
Lannett Co. (LCI) on Wednesday cut its projections for the year
that ends in June, citing softness in the generic drug market,
competitive pressure and delays in for some of its key products and
delays in launching new products.
Monsanto Co. (MON) named a longtime manager of its seed business
to head the company's ambitious push into computerized farming
services, as the unit's prior leader steps down to focus on
ventures like a quinoa-focused restaurant and agricultural
robots.
Mercury Systems Inc. (MRCY) said Wednesday that it has agreed to
acquire several businesses focused on the defense electronics
sector from Microsemi Corp. (MSCC) in a deal valued at $300
million.
Oxford Industries Inc. (OXM) on Wednesday issued guidance mostly
below expectations though the apparel company reported a 11%
increase in fourth-quarter profit.
PVH Corp. (PVH) on Wednesday reported better-than-expected
fourth-quarter results but issued downbeat guidance for the year,
citing the impact of currency translation, lower consumer spending
and increased promotions.
Crane-maker Terex Corp. (TEX), which has agreed to merge with
Finnish industrial-crane maker Konecranes Oyj, said China's
Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co. (ZLIOY) has
raised by $1 a share its competing offer to $31 a share. Terex said
its board still recommends the merger with Konecranes.
