SAN JOSE, Calif., June 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
SonicWALL, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNWL), a leading provider of
intelligent network security and data protection solutions, today
announced the SonicWALL Email Security Appliance (ESA) 3300 and the
SonicWALL ESA 4300, bringing market-leading high performance,
highly scalable and cost effective email security to organizations
of all sizes. With the introduction of these two new products and
the recently announced SonicWALL Email Security Virtual Appliance,
SonicWALL's Email Security portfolio offers SMBs, enterprises and
managed service providers (MSPs) more choices when it comes to
deploying email security and anti-spam, allowing them to pick the
best delivery method to meet their unique network security and
productivity needs.
Companies and service providers today require a comprehensive
suite of hardware and software in order to address the ever-present
capacity and scalability issues inherent in managing email
security. SonicWALL's new ESA 3300, ESA 4300 and virtual appliances
represent a portfolio of solutions delivering performance and
scalability that is powerful yet easy to manage. This user-centric
combination results in lower cost of ownership and resource
requirements, regardless of the degree of email protection an
organization demands.
"SonicWALL's new email security solutions have benefitted our
company to no end," said Peter Hill,
MIS Director for SPL, Inc., an oil and gas measurement company. "My
IT department no longer has to spend valuable time and resources to
constantly address the huge volume of email traffic we used to
face. We now enjoy that vital combination of capability and
ease-of-management in protecting our email, allowing us to spend
more time on our day-to-day business activity."
The ESA 4300 allows for future extensibility with the addition
of multiple drives, which can significantly increase the
scalability and capacity of customers' email security platforms as
their needs grow over time. The ES 7.2.2 firmware, which was
released earlier this year, delivered the Email Security Virtual
Appliance. This virtual appliance enables organizations to deploy
SonicWALL's Email Security solutions in a virtual environment, and
allows managed service providers (MSPs) to significantly scale and
manage their infrastructure.
"Our new email security appliances are designed to allow
customers to handle ever-increasing email volume while relying on
SonicWALL's market-leading performance and reliability, giving them
maximum storage capabilities without sacrificing email protection,"
said Patrick Sweeney, vice president
of product management, SonicWALL. "Additionally, the Virtual
Appliance has the potential to be a real industry game-changer
thanks to its ability to scale, not only for end-user customers
building out virtualized environments but for MSPs looking to
expand their infrastructures and significantly grow their customer
base."
Both the ESA 3300 and ESA 4300 collaborate with the SonicWALL
Global Response Intelligent Defense (GRID) Network, which includes
millions of SonicWALL anti-spam and email security sensors deployed
at sites worldwide, the SonicWALL Threat Center, and SonicWALL Labs
to apply continuous updates on worldwide threats over multiple
vectors. This integrated approach uses crowdsourced customer
ratings of email, predictive behavioral analysis and innovative
malware identification signatures to deliver proactive, near
real-time, self-correcting defenses that block both malware and
their carrier channels in advance of many malicious cyber
attacks.
Additional key features of the SonicWALL ESA 3300, ESA 3400 and
Virtual Appliance include:
ESA 3300 & ESA 4300:
- Greater overall system performance than previous SonicWALL
solutions, with higher performance processors, expanded memory
(2GB, 4BG) and improved RAID performance (offered in the ESA
4300)
- Flash Drive support: previously only available in our high-end
platform, enabling support for SAFE Mode. SAFE Mode allows recovery
of configurations files in the case of system failure
- Expandable storage capacity with 2 drive bays for future
extensibility (offered in the ESA 4300)
- Built on the SonicWALL GRID Network that collaboratively
gathers, analyzes and vets cross-vector threat information from
millions of business oriented sources around the world, the ESA
3300 and ESA 4300 receive near real-time threat and signature
updates to ensure maximum security. In addition, SonicWALL is able
to use reputation data gathered from its global GRID network to
proactively drop malicious sources at the connection level.
Email Security Virtual Appliance:
- Offers SonicWALL customers the ability to move to a virtualized
environment with a self-contained virtual machine. This provides
all of the benefits of a hardware appliance, in a virtual machine
image, with the associated benefits of a virtualized
environment.
